Mel Gibson is Gonna Be Poor

Well, not really, but after almost three decades of marriage Mel Gibson’s wife, Robyn, is filing for divorce. This is slated to be one of the ugliest divorce battles ever because there is no prenup, Mel Gibson is worth over a billion dollars, and according to California’s laws, Robyn is entitled to half that fortune. Mel has been a nutcase for years and has very public battles with his alcohol addiction, but it appears the reason Robyn is finally calling it quits is because Mel has been carrying on an affair with a 24 year old Russian pop singer. The Sun says:

Smitten Oksana, who first hit the Russian charts aged 13, said yesterday: “This is serious and I hope that our union will be real and strong and long-lasting. “We are different people, but Mel is a grown man and knows precisely what he wants and me too — I know what I want.” The singer, who is also a model, claimed to have visited Mel on the set of a movie in Boston last summer. But she added the two were not yet ready to go public with details of their love. She said: “I would not like to say more right now.”

Oh man, does this have “scorned woman” written all over it. Robyn put up with Mel’s narcissistic bullshit and drunken antics for 28 years and ends up getting cheated on with some young tart. I’d say that’s worth a half a billion dollars. If I were Robyn I’d send this Oksana girl a bouquet of flowers and a thank you card.
